VP Trinh: Wood Dale, Illinois, United States; My first studio project was a mix-use urban infill, a residence and art gallery. At the time, I knew very little about good architecture + design, so I created two unique and separate spaces. Each space had its own identity and I connected the spaces with a sweet glass staircase. I called the project "Worlds Apart," a tribute to my favorite band Journey. I thought it was a great project, unfortunately the only thing the reviewers like was the name and nothing else. Looking back to my younger and naive self, we are simply "Worlds Apart." A decade later, I am a Licensed Architect, LEED-AP, GGP and still love Journey.
